Sofi

Sofi, born in 1969, mother of two, British by birth, spent her childhood in Australia. She came to South Africa about 10 years ago, initially just for a working vacation. But she met the man of her life here, Robert. They got married and had a son, Lungelo.

She was soon accepted by the Zulu community and by Robert’s family (which wasn’t exactly easy at all). She learned the traditions of this indigenous community, but at the same time discovered the needs and problems (concerning all issues) that Zulu people are confronted with in this post-apartheid era.

Then Robert became ill, Aids, and ultimately he died. Sofi was thus directly confronted with this horrible disease.

And although this experience has sort of moulded her personality, I dare to say that in fact, it is her personality which shaped this project.

I met her here in South Africa. She is a honest, warm person, with an incredible drive!

I’d go through fire and water for her.

A big thank you to all who believe in this project!
