On 4 August 2009, I left for a holiday in Winterton, to experience the daily life in rural South Africa.
I enjoyed the unspoiled nature, de kindness and hospitality of the local people. I also visited the Tomorrow4Isibani project for which I have been volunteering for about one year now. The Isibani team is driven by great enthusiasm. Their engagement is just incredible! For them, there are no problems but only solutions! And belief me: they have to find truckloads of solutions!
At this time, they are planning the building of a kitchen. They also foresee a computer room, furnished with donated PCs from a company. Here, the locals will be taught the basics on how to use a computer .
I also went to visit the baby daycare center Kusasa in Khethani, which is the main part of the project supported and sponsored by Tomorrow4Isibani. It is hard to believe what the team has achieved in such a short period of time. Where once stood a ruin, a beautiful place has arisen! The building has been brightened up completely! Accommodation to take care of about 12 tiny tods has been provided.
Of course, some finishing touches are still needed. They want to install a water tank or a water well at the baby daycare center. Also, the installation of a shade cloth has been planned, so that the children can even play outside when the sun is burning at full strength in summertime, up to 40° C. To increase the development of the children's motoric skills, a baby jungle is also on the wish list.
In short, what I have seen there is a real enthusiastic team which is determined to go all the way. They tackle all possible obstacles since they only want the best for the local people of Khethani.
Personally, I am very happy that I can contribute my two cents to this very beautiful project!
My message to Tris is: Keep up the good work! You are on a great journey with Tomorrow4isibani!
For sure, I will be back soon!
