I would like to take an opportunity to thank each and every one of you who contributed to the Kusasa Baby Day Care Centre over the past year. Your generosity has overwhelmed us at times, and we are very grateful for all your assistance.
Life for many in Africa is a constant daily struggle. Many necessities like running clean water which we take for granted is very often not accessible to many who live in our beautiful country. We have had a trying time this year in Khethani Township where there was no water for three months. The baby day care continued operating but at times it was difficult. Some of your donated money was used to erect a tank stand which will assist us with storing water for when the water is turned off which is fairly often, so a HUGE thank you for that.
There are still three full-time ladies working at the Centre caring for between twelve to fourteen children daily. Thandeka one of our ladies is currently studing Level One in Early Childhood Development part time. This is a huge achievement for her and we are very proud of her success. We have also been fortunate to have been able to send Nophumelelo on a Big Steps course which covers Basic Child Care Training.
It was very sad for us to say goodbye to Christine Mennell. Christine is an Australian Nurse who very kindly gave us many hours to train the ladies in first aid and basic child care. She has returned to Australia. We hope that we will be able to continue sending our ladies on further informative and educational courses this year.
We have made great progress in 2009, and it was only possible because of all of you. The babies look so much healthier and we know that we are providing a vital and worthwhile service to the Khetani community. Tris has been an incredible support this year and the baby day care centre was only able to open thanks to her many hours of painting and sanding! So also a huge thank you to her. We look forward to continued growth in 2010. I will also strive to keep you all more updated this year.
We so enjoyed meeting a few of you and hope to meet you all in our beautiful country during the Soccer World Cup!
Thank you once again for everything and we wish you all a blessed and prosperous 2010.
Best wishes.
