NPO number 068-299 / Strelitzia Trust IT 570/2006
(Zulu for "Bringing the Light")

In Khethani, near Winterton, in the South African province of Kwazulu Natal, Sofi opened the Isibani centre in an abandoned school in August 2008.

Isibani wants to contribute to a hopeful future for South African people who are confronted with HIV and Aids. The tasks of the day centre are, among others:

  • We organize training and support sessions about HIV and Aids.
  • HIV positives in South Africa, who follow a training program, are entitled to free medication. They all need to have identity papers, which a lot of them don´t have. Sofi helps these sick people to obtain the necessary documents.
  • To distribute HIV-medication, and to follow-up on the taking of the medication
  • To take aids tests
  • To organise food distribution for the poorest
  • To organise temporary shelter, and to provide first aid
  • To start up the baby daycare centre Kusasa in Khethani, where the youngest will get the needed hygienic care, food, attention and human warmth. As a result, their siblings can go to school instead of having to take care of the babies
  • To collect clothes, and distribute them
